Paired Adjectives

When you use paired adjectives it adds variety to your sentences. Instead of "The ball was big and blue." you could say" Big and blue, the ball sailed through the air." So every once in a while, switch up your sentences, and make it different!

Free Writing

Sometimes, when you start to write for the day, you need to open up your brain . Free writing is a really good way to do this. when you free write, set a timer for any where from five to ten minutes. Then find a comfortable spot , a notebook and and a pencil. Write anything that pops to your mind and don't stop until the time goes off.

Thesaurus

Thick and sturdy, the thesaurus is a writers best friend. you can look up words in it and find different words with the same meaning. Words are aranged in alphabetical order . This book is great when you have an overused word. for example, if you had the word "blue" and you looked it up, you wold get:azure, sky blue, prussian blue, navy blue, robins egg, powder blue, sapphire, indigo, aqua, aquamarine and turquise.

Hooks

When writing a story you should always start with a hook. A hook is when you start with something that grabs the reader and makes her want to keep reading. For example, if you start with." My story is going to be about some mounains." this does not keep the reader intrested, because she already knows what the story is about! But if you were to start with " The night was coming and so was the cold of the mountains." this creates suspention and keeps people intreiged.
